Kaholoholo, etc. samples the traditional Hawaiian Hula side-step, kaholo, which through repetition to the beat of the Ipu (hawaiian drum), forms the shape of a square. This performance concentrates on exploring the different iterations of the basic step, by simply changing the number of repetitions as well as varying the planes (or heights) at which it is performed. Kaholoholo, etc. appropriates Oskar Schlemmer's Raumtanz (Space Dance) as well as Bruce Nauman's An Exaggerated Walk Around the Perimeter of a Square, with hawaiian vocabulary.
