A Supersonic Requiem engages with the existence of a parallel spirit world and the interconnectivity of the preternatural and physical planes. On her apartment rooftop, Garcia wields her handmade bullwhip - a flexible weapon in Filipino Martial Arts - also known to be the first human made weapon to break the sound barrier and produce a sonic boom.

In this video, Garcia carries out an adaptation of a pre-colonial Philippine funerary and mourning ritual that provides a level of psychic protection from unsettled and feared spirits, whilst also serving as a choreographic requiem dedicated to her late mother. The wielding of the whip purpose is a defensive and protective strategy from preternatural beings as a protocol to secure tranquility for those departed.
